When most people hear “acupuncture,” they immediately think of needles. While fine, sterile needles are an important part of acupuncture, there is much more behind the practice than simply inserting needles.
Acupuncture can be practiced using different styles, theories, and techniques. A practitioner’s education, training, clinical experience, and approach to care can influence how treatment is provided.
Within Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture is part of a broader system of care. Depending on a practitioner’s training and scope of practice, this may include approaches such as moxibustion, acupressure, Chinese herbal medicine, and other traditional techniques.
At Moy Acupuncture & Wellness, we draw upon the principles and traditions of Chinese medicine to provide thoughtful, individualized care that goes beyond the needles themselves.
The needles are one part of the practice. There is much more behind them.
As the beautiful, long days of summer begin to fade, New England welcomes cooler weather, colorful foliage, warm tea, and pumpkin season. As the seasons change, our daily routines and bodies adjust as well.
So, where does acupuncture fit in?
Research continues to explore the relationship between acupuncture and the immune system. A 2023 review published in Frontiers in Immunology examined how acupuncture may influence immune regulation, including interactions involving the nervous and immune systems. While research continues to develop, these findings offer an interesting look at acupuncture beyond what many people simply think of as “needles.”
At Moy Acupuncture & Wellness, we take an individualized approach to seasonal wellness and acupuncture care for both adults and younger patients when appropriate.
As we transition from summer into fall, it can be a good time to pay attention to rest, nutrition, movement, stress, and the everyday habits that support your overall wellbeing.
Welcome, fall!
