Acupuncture is a component of Traditional Chinese Medicine that involves the insertion of fine, sterile needles at specific points on the body. It is commonly used as part of a holistic approach to health and wellness. Acupuncture care is individualized based on each patient's needs, health history, and goals.
People seek acupuncture care for a variety of concerns, including pain management, stress, muscle tension, digestive concerns, sleep concerns, and general wellness support. Results vary from person to person, and acupuncture may not be appropriate for every condition. Your practitioner will discuss whether acupuncture may be a suitable option for your individual situation.
Most patients describe acupuncture as a mild sensation rather than pain. Some people may feel a brief sensation or pinch when a needle is inserted or a feeling of heaviness, warmth, pinch, ant bite or tingling around the treatment area. Everyone's experience is different.
Licensed acupuncturists use sterile, single-use, disposable needles. Safety procedures are followed according to professional standards and regulations.
Your first visit typically includes a discussion of your health history, current concerns, lifestyle factors, and wellness goals. Your practitioner will determine an appropriate treatment approach based on the information provided and explain what to expect during care.
It is generally recommended to eat a light meal before your appointment and wear comfortable clothing that allows access to the areas being treated. Please bring any relevant health information and inform your practitioner about medications, supplements, medical conditions, or recent changes in your health.
The number and frequency of treatments vary depending on each individual's needs, health history, and response to care. Your practitioner will discuss a treatment approach with you and reassess your progress over time.
Yes. Many patients use acupuncture alongside conventional healthcare. Acupuncture should not replace medical evaluation or treatment when it is needed. Patients should continue to follow the recommendations of their healthcare providers.
Acupuncture during pregnancy may be appropriate for some individuals, but treatment decisions should be based on each person's health history and circumstances. Please inform your practitioner if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant so appropriate care can be discussed.
Acupuncture for children may be considered depending on age, health concerns, and individual circumstances. A consultation is recommended to determine whether acupuncture is appropriate.
At this time, Moy Acupuncture & Wellness is not accepting insurance.
Is acupuncture a replacement for emergency or medical care?
No. Acupuncture is not a replacement for emergency care, diagnosis, or treatment provided by a licensed medical professional. If you have a medical emergency or serious health concern, seek appropriate medical attention.
Every person's health situation is different. A consultation allows your practitioner to review your concerns, discuss your goals, and determine whether acupuncture care may be appropriate for you.
For your safety and to support clear communication during your visit, please avoid arriving under the influence of alcohol or recreational substances, including cannabis. Please inform your practitioner of any substance use that may be relevant to your care.
At Moy Acupuncture & Wellness, we value your time and are committed to providing quality care to each patient. Appointment times are reserved specifically for you, and we kindly ask for advance notice if you need to make changes.
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide at least 24 hours' notice whenever possible. This allows us the opportunity to offer the appointment time to another patient.
Appointments changed or cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice may be subject to a cancellation fee.
Patients who do not arrive for their scheduled appointment and do not provide notice may be considered a no-show. A 100% fee may apply for missed appointments. Three missed appointments or late cancellations within a quarter may result in a review of future scheduling arrangements.
Please arrive on time for your scheduled appointment. If you arrive late, your appointment time may need to be shortened in order to accommodate the schedule of other patients. The full appointment fee may still apply.
